Mack "Rixitic" Charnecki

Indie dev, artist, composer

Hi there! I'm an oddball in my early 30s from Texas who likes making video games and the things that go in them, especially music and boss fights!

More about me

While I specialize in game music and boss design, I do a decent amount of graphic design, programming, and pixel art as well. I've also dabbled in everything from creative writing to photography, mid-poly 3D modeling and animation, sound design, web widget and (non-LLM) chatbot development, and video editing! Here's my resume if you're interested.

Aside from making things, I also enjoy gathering and sharing resources & learning materials. One of my goals in life is to help raise awareness of the vast amounts of free knowledge and tools available for game development & other crafts, and do my part in making them as accessible to everyone as possible.

I'm currently looking for part-time, remote opportunities to collaborate with a team on projects (games or software). I've taken lead roles in past projects, though I prefer hands-on work and assisting others over managerial duties. I'm also not as knowledgeable in any language, field, or software as a specialized developer, but I enjoy learning on the job. If you think I'd be a good fit for your company or team, please get in touch!

Excellent things in life

  • Birds and works that prominently feature them

  • My friends and family

  • Anything made by Greg Lobanov or raocow

  • People of color and the LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse communities

  • Animal Crossing, Sonic, Pokemon, Kirby, Zelda, Dragon Quest, Castlevania, and many other game franchises

Note: as of writing this, all examples in this section are from non-profit fan games. These clips are strictly meant to convey the game design and overall presentation of each boss fight and I do not claim authorship or creation of every individual graphic or character seen in them.

Games and Utilities

Superb Demo Survivors (Q1 2023)

A small, open-source bullet hell survival game I and two friends developed in Godot over the course of two months as a birthday gift for the Youtuber raocow.

  • 15 waves of enemies in a large procedurally-generated island environment!

  • Wield weird and wacky weapons!

  • Three playable characters (with a fourth unlockable one!)

You can download and play the game for free here or view the project repository on GitHub.

Suiclops Game (December 2023)

A small Suika Game clone I developed in Godot over as a Christmas gift for the Youtuber raocow.

  • Slingshot pods to pull off tricky maneuvers and rack up large chains for extra points!

  • Features a variety of music and characters from the ASMT series games!

You can download and play the game for free here.

The GUrP Game (December 2017)

A small 3D platformer I developed in Unity with the help of some friends as a Christmas gift for the Youtuber raocow.

  • Play as raocow's mascot, the armless cyclops girl Demo!

  • Collect teeth and leeks!

  • Over 20 different "You did it!" voice clips!

You can download and play the game for free here.

Hatsun (A2XT Gaiden 2, 2021)

A marathon boss developed with help from Enjl to serve as the final exam fight of the Christmas-themed fan game A2XT Gaiden 2. Each phase of the fight uses a small set of elements to recreate or reinterpret iconic attacks from various bosses raocow has fought at some point in his Youtube career.

Sophia (MaFAB2 contest winner, 2019/2021)

A two-phase boss fight I developed in collaboration with pixel artist Chaoxys as an entry for the 2nd Make a Fun Awesome Boss Contest. I came up with the core concept, and programmed the fight, Chaoxys did the character design and made most of the original graphical assets, and we designed the attacks together. This boss won 1st place out of 24 total entries.

Pandamona (SANICS: A2XT Gaiden, 2020)

A scrolling shooter-esque boss fight I made for the Christmas-themed fan game SANICS: A2XT Gaiden.

Frosty B0-1 (Subzero Heroes, 2020)

The first boss of the fan game Subzero Heroes. I designed the character and encounter, then worked together with the project's lead developer, Enjl, to implement it in the game.

Supreme Death Overload Reggie (Super Community Contest winner, 2017)

The boss fight in my SMBX Super Community Contest entry. This boss helped the level place 1st out of 46 total entries.
